This was a treadmill run/walk at the gym. I set the incline at 2.5, and try to maintain a 7.5 speed. I did this for 4 miles and then walked for a minute. Then I finished my 5th mile right around 40 minute mark. (8 minute average). I walked and jogged the next 2.36 miles in 25 minutes.

Sasha, I did walk break because I was tired. I use walk breaks mostly as a way of reward. It is quite an accomplishement for me to run 3 miles in 24 minutes and exponentially to maintain that pace for any miles thereafter. I am hoping that by running more often, that it will become easier to do that pace or faster. Any suggestions?

Do not run the pace that makes you tired. You do not have to run 8:00 pace. Run 9:00 or even 10:00, but with no walking breaks. At this point all of your mileage should be very relaxed and conversational. Distance is more important than speed.

I will try it like you suggest.

Are you saying that each of my runs should be at 9 - 10 minute pace? Or do I do some at the faster pace and some at the slower pace?

This is my version of an "uneventful" 6 miler.  i tis my usual run. I try and do it 4 - 6 times a week.  This time, I ran with AJ (13yr son).  It was his first run in quite  awhile.

I think it took us 55 minutes.

Did uneventful 6 miles with my 65 yr old Dad.  it was mostly walking with some light jogging once in awhile.  He is overcoming heart attack and trying to get to where he can walk for 2 hours straight.  It took us 90 minutes.

I've been really sick with cough and aches and stuffy head and headaches.
I haven't felt much like running.  Today, I am doing a littel better, decided I better get back to it.

No walking.
